The National Conference on Sports Nutrition is hosted and organized by Fitness, Sports and Nutrition, A core group of IAPEN, in collaboration with Sant Hirdaram Girls College, Bhopal on 28 February 2014 at Sant Hirdaram Girls College, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, India. Conference theme is “Nutritional practices to enhance peak performance in the sporting activity – Challenges and Solutions”.

In order to promote Advanced Education in Sports Nutrition and to facilitate the academic pursuits of more number of
nutritionists, dieticians and fitness trainers from the educational institutions, fitness and wellness centres, Fitness, Sports and Nutrition (FSN) in collaboration with Sant Hirdaram Girls College, Bhopal, announces the National Conference on Sports Nutrition with Advanced Workshop on Sports Nutrition in Bhopal.

Sports nutrition has developed greatly over the years. Stories of infamous pre-competition meals of steak and eggs are now replaced by carefully managed carbohydrate and amino acid intakes. Today’s high performing sports persons or athletes are more aware of the benefits of carefully structuring their food and fluid intakes to enhance daily training, assist recovery and optimize competition performance. The field of sports nutrition is the most innovative and dynamic of all sport sciences.

The National Conference on Sports Nutrition provides an up to-date, informative insight into core nutritional aspects required for sports persons or athletes to reach peak performance. This national conference will help nutritionists, dietitians or fitness trainers to independently excel and advance in this very specialized field of sports nutrition.

Scientific Paper Presentation – Call for Papers

The scientific committee of the FSN conference seeks abstracts in the enclosed format for oral presentation on topics relevant to the conference. Accepted abstracts will be published in the proceedings and selected full length papers will be forwarded to Journal of Nutrition Research for consideration towards publication.

Abstracts need to be sent as an email attachment to info@fsn.co.in. The acceptance details will be intimated by email. Author instructions can be downloaded from journal website (www.jnutres.com).

Provisional scientific topics include:

  • New advances in the study of nutrients,
  • Reproduction, athletic performance,
  • Aging, investigations in animal models,
  • Epidemiologic studies on nutrients and phytochemical intakes and novel analytical techniques,
  • Physical activity, performance, cognitive functions,
  • Metabolic syndrome, molecular nutrition and all aspects of nutrition

About Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, India

Bhopal is the capital of the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh and the administrative headquarters of Bhopal District and Bhopal Division. The city was the capital of the former Bhopal State. Bhopal is known as the City of Lakes for its various natural as well as artificial lakes and is also one of the greenest cities in India. Bhopal is the 16th largest city in India and 134th largest city in the world. It is basically divided into two parts – old Bhopal and new Bhopal.

A Y-class city, Bhopal houses various institutions and installations of national importance. Some of these include ISRO’s Master Control Facility, AIIMS Bhopal (Established in 2012), National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) AMPRI, MANIT, IISER, SPA, IIFM, BHEL and NLIU. The city attracted international attention after the Bhopal disaster, when a Union Carbide India Limited (UCIL) pesticide manufacturing plant leaked a mixture of deadly gases including methyl isocyanate on the intervening night of 2 / 3 December 1984, leading to one of the worst industrial disasters in the world’s
history. Since then, Bhopal has been a center of protests and campaigns which have been joined by people from across the globe.

Places of Interest in Bhopal

Taj-ul-Masajid: This is the largest mosque in the country. The building of this mosque was begun by Shah Jehan Begum (1868-1901) but was incomplete on her death and was completed only after 1971. The most impressive features of the mosque are its main hall with inter-arched roof, broad facade, spacious courtyard, and smooth marble flooring.

Jama-Masajid: Jama Masjid is located at the centre of chowk bazar, a busy business centre of Bhopal.This was built in 1837 by Kudsia Begum. This Masjid was completed in 24 years. To built this masjid , an amount of Rs. 60.5 lakhs was spent. This beautiful mosque has gold spikes in the minarets of this beautiful mosque.

Moti-Masajid: Moti Masjid is architecturally akin to Jama Masjid in Delhi.Moti Maszid It was built in 1860 by the Sikandar Jehan Begum daughter of Kudsia Begum (Sikandar Jehan). Idgah Shahjahan Begum got it built on about five acres of land . This area is known as idgah hills. Muslim devotees offer their prayers on ID and other occasions.

Shaukat Mahal & Sadar Manzil: Sadar ManzilShaukat Mahal is situated at the entrance to the Chowk area in the heart of the city. It was designed by a Frenchman, said to be descendant of the Bourbon kings of France. Shaukat Mahal is an architectural marvel and a cynosure of all eyes. Sadar Manzil is the , Hall of public audience of the former rulers of Bhopal.

Bharat Bhawan: Bharat Bhawan is one of the most unique national institutes in India. This is a centre for the performing and visual arts. Bharat Bhawan is designed by the renowned architect Charles Currier. There are a museum of the arts, an art gallery, a workshop for fine arts, a reparatory theatre, indoor and outdoor auditoria, rehersal room, and libraries of Indian poetry, classical and folk music .

Manav Sangrahalaya (Museum of Man kind): An open-air exhibition of tribal house types located on Shamla Hills. The exhibition highlights the architectural features and has elaborately displayed interiors. The surroundings have been reconstructed to match some of the interesting environmental features of tribal villages. The habitat is open every day except on Mondays and national holidays from 10.00 am to 6.00 pm.
